Never been one for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, but learning of a new variety of Innis & Gunn at the boozer is reason to celebrate.
I try as many varieties as I can get my hands on. Some are just okay, some are good, and some are very good. I seem to like the dark rich ones best (they seem to take the bite off). High hopes for this one.
Someday soon I’ll put a shelf up behind the bar for the 20 varieties of bottles now hidden in a closet.

I’ve had an Innis & Gunn beer before (not the one pictured) and I thought it was great. Not a brand I see often (here in Ohio). I’ll keep an eye out for the “Irish Whiskey Finish”
(although...in my college days an “irish whiskey finish” is when we’d have to go bail one of my buddy’s out of jail in the morning for trying to fight the cops the night before)

Irish Whiskey Finish.
Can’t think of a good Irish beer*
*Guinness isn’t beer. It is in its own category.

Fun time is Christmas time. We get these variety packs (with a glass). Side by side, it’s very easy to taste the differences.

The local St. Patrick’s Day festival in Richmond is scheduled for this Saturday. Forecast is rainy.

Guinness Golden Ale is a really nice drink.

Murphy’s? Smithwick’s?
Personally, I prefer Guinness in the so called “beer cocktails” i.e. black and tans, black and blues, etc.

Kilkenny is okay.
On a related note: Disappointed they changed the cans and logo. Shame to throw history out the window.

Haven’t tried that one. Would like to. The Lagers (Blonde and Black) were good enough.

I’ll be toasting St Patrick’ Day with Guinness and good Irish whiskey.
Or one of my favourites, both.

the new Guinness Nitro IPA is good as well....lighter than most IPAs but has that Guinness smoothness to it.

There’s a new place near me that is nearly all small batch micro-brews on tap. They had the Avery Bourbon-aged Stout for the parade last Saturday.....mmmm mmmm good. And 17% alcohol, so....yeah.....8oz was like drinking two pints of Guinness.

Ahhh, I see what you’re like. :-)x
Have you seen this around your parts? Not too much more cost-wise than regular.

I think I saw something about that one but it’s tends to be the regular Jameson on sale. But I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a bottle.

That’s very interesting. It seems like the fad now is to age beer in old whiskey barrels. So the opposite is happening too? Ageing whiskey in old beer barrels?

I haven’t tried Kilkenny. I used to drink Beamish. Is Beamish still available here in the States?

Just found it at the whiskyexchange.com.
£25.95, which is £5.00 more than a regular Jameson, so well priced.

I went with the Teeling Single Malt for £39.95 though.
I’ve had the Single Grain before and it was fantastic, it really was so this single malt has a lot to live up to.

Time to avoid Savannah for a week. Stupid tourist coming into the city, and making traffic and parking hell.

My wonderful wife got me a fifth of -

It’s nice - smooth, similar to Johnnie Walker black but a little sweeter, and touch smokier

Quincy? Drove through there a couple years on the way to Steam Boat rock. Nice little town. You are not that far from Iron Horse and Bale Breaker breweries. Those roads out there sure temp you to do a little over the limit...
